Teeth Whitening

At Precision Dental
Teeth whitening is a safe, effective treatment to brighten the colour of your teeth giving you the confidence to smile all day long.
Here at Precision Dental Clinic we use a variety of methods of teeth whitening specific to the individual requirements of the patient.
How does teeth whitening work?
Teeth whitening works by applying peroxide to the teeth for the duration of the manufacturers guidelines. The peroxide breaks down on the tooth surface to penetrate the enamel which whitens any discolouration’s to give your teeth natural white result. During your consultation at Precision Dental Clinic we will assess your suitability for tooth whitening, take initial shades and photographs of your teeth and then advise which method of tooth whitening is appropriate for you.

What teeth whitening options are there?

Boutique Whitening

Boutique is a tray whitening system that progressively whitens the teeth. Custom trays are made to fit your mouth so that the whitening gel can be applied inside them and worn at either day or night. It is recommended that these are worn every night for at least a 2-week period, this home whitening system relies on consistency of use so that you achieve the best whitening shade possible. On completion of treatment you will always keep the trays for maintenance of the tooth colour for the future.

Enlighten Whitening

Enlighten whitening is the only system that guarantees whiter teeth, it is a combination whitening system where again custom trays are made of your mouth for you to sleep in over the period of 2 weeks to progressively whiten your teeth. On completion of the 2 weeks you will return to our clinic for a 1 hour Enlighten acceleration whitening phase to complete the treatment. This method of teeth whitening gives the very best results. If you follow the whitening guidelines for Enlighten your teeth will whiten better than any other system available. On completion of treatment you will always keep the trays for maintenance of the tooth colour for the future.

Internal Bleaching

Is a method of whitening the tooth from inside out. This is a very specific tooth whitening treatment for patients that have singular discoloured teeth due to tooth trauma or following root canal treatment. For internal bleaching to work the back of the tooth needs to be accessed, peroxide will be then inserted and left to whiten the tooth from the inside, weekly reviews are required so the tooth whitens to shade of the surrounding teeth.

Are there any risks?

Patients can get temporary sensitivity during the treatment, we recommend a desensitising tooth paste to be used so that the treatment is comfortable and sensitive free. We like to make sure our patients are comfortable during and after treatment so verbal and written instructions are given with all our tooth whitening treatments. Our dentists will take before and after shades of your teeth and take photographs to show you how much your tooth colour has improved.

How long will it last?

Teeth whitening will last as long as you look after it as its not a permanent treatment, what we eat and drink on a daily basis effects the colour of our teeth, tea, coffee, red wine, and foods with artificial colouring all effect the colour of our teeth.
